Event Description

Using Intrusive Academic Advising for New-to-College and At-Risk Students

Intrusive Academic Advising is recommended by apex bodies as a sound way to assist new-to-college and at-risk students. But in today’s higher education there is more of the need to use effective tools for all groups, regardless of their classification. Intrusive Advising is designed to increase the probability of student success, educating students on all of their educational options, and attempting to intervene with students before academic issues get out of hand

Data collected in the course of Intrusive Advising offers the opportunity for educators to understand how the students actually engage in the academic experiences related to them. By looking at how Intrusive Academic Advising is and how it can be used, institutions of higher learning can begin to understand the need for a more deliberate approach to student success as we move into a more “completion” oriented higher educational structure.

Join the live webinar by expert speaker Kent Seaver to have a closer look at the concept of Intrusive Academic Advising and how it relates to a student success and retention approach to higher education advising. For over a decade, the combination of curriculum and advising have been neck and neck as the top priorities as they relate to student’s priorities. Everyone attending this presentation can take back to their institutions possible and practical solutions to address students from various cohorts and their need for a more “hands-on” approach to academic intervention.
