Event Description

Enhance Your Graduates’ Placement Rates Though Effective Evidence-Based Tools

In the past, colleges and universities have focused on recruitment and retention almost exclusively as measures of efficacy. As economic and employment realities have continued to evolve in response to globalization, diversity, and technology, access to higher education is increasingly seen as the only viable path to a higher standard of living and quality of life for most people. But as graduates complete their programs of study in higher numbers, it is imperative that colleges and universities take a more proactive approach to helping them acquire jobs commensurate with their investment. No gradate should walk across the stage at commencement only to arrive at the unemployment (or the underemployment) line.

This session, by expert speaker Dr. Aaron W. Hughey, will focus on helping colleges and universities (specifically, the administration, faculty and staff) to effectively and efficiently help college graduates secure gainful employment after graduation. You will get a clear understanding of why placement rates are becoming the primary accountability measure in higher education. Aaron will provide a roadmap for implementing evidence-based strategies proven to significantly improve the placement rates of your graduates. This has financial implications for both the individual student as well as the institution that serves them.

Specifically, you will learn how to develop and implement evidence-based best practices to help college students secure meaningful and appropriate employment after graduation. Aaron will discuss the proactive use of networking opportunities, internships, apprenticeships, and intrusive advising/career counseling. This, in turn, will enhance recruitment and retention efforts which will ultimately benefit the institution financially.
