Navigating Title IX and Clery Act for Institutions: Conducting Appropriate Investigations of Title IX Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Complaints

With nearly 300 Title IX investigations open with the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, it is more important than ever that institutions understand their obligations under Title IX and the Clery Act. Title IX Officers are tremendously busy to ensure that they meet with the developing obligations.

This session by Kristin L. Oliveira will review the legal requirements set forth by federal law and federal regulations, and the guidelines identified by the “Dear Colleague Letters” published by the Office of Civil Rights. Kristin will discuss best practices for Title IX officers in consideration of recent settlements reached between the Office of Civil Rights and institutions.
